Things I Love Thursday [6/2/11]

I skipped last week—whoops! ^^; And now I feel like there are all sorts of things I thought of over the past two weeks that I'm forgetting, but here we go anyway. ^_^
♥ Finding an old episode of "Ribbon no Kishi" (a.k.a "Princess Knight"), a series that is said by many to be the first shoujo anime! It was fascinating to actually watch an episode of one of Tezuka's many famous works. I can definitely see the Disney influence, as well as how this in turn influenced future anime in Japan. The quality of the video isn't so great (and no subtitles, sorry ^^;). I need to find other episodes, maybe, and I'd love to hunt down copies of the manga or something.
♥ Realizing that I'm going to be missed. I think my coworkers really, sincerely like me, and I am so honored to be treated so kindly when I feel I've done so little. They've told me that they were really happy to meet and work with a woman from a foreign country for the first time, as all the previous ALTs in my position had been male. I'm hopeful that my successor will be even better at this job than I am (and maybe another gal? hopefully?), but I couldn't help feeling happy (maybe "grateful" is a better word) when the other teachers expressed genuine regret once they realized I'd be leaving in a few months. I think it's the right decision for me to go home, but it's truly been a blessing to get to work at such wonderful schools for a year, with such nice people. :)
~Little Things That Made Me Smile~
♥ A new umbrella that I love ♥ Another show at Takarazuka ♥ Photobooks ♥ Playing with makeup ♥ Roast beef sandwiches at English-style pubs ♥ Thinking about my swimming pool at home ♥ This hair tutorial ♥ Hearing about a friend meeting her childhood hero ♥ Getting invited for yakiniku with coworkers ♥ Talking (in English!) with the principal at one of my elementary schools ♥ Lesson plans that go well ♥ Students getting excited ♥ Wearing high heels for a whole day ♥ A long, victorious bath with tea ♥ Doughnuts ♥ Cheesecake sticks ♥ The Producers
